ILearning Global Shut It’s Doors I Was Shocked!

by Lori on March 18, 2010

Yesterday evening I received an e-mail instructing me to get on an emergency webinar, not knowing what is was all about, I did and to my shock, I learned that ILearning Global had shut its doors on the network marketing side. I could not believe it; I sat there in total disbelief because I know people who had just made the decision to join the company and did.

ILearning Global in my opinion was a company that people look for because its business model is personal development and if you are really into that this would have been perfect. We all know that in order for you to succeed in any business you have to develop yourself and this was the platform to do it.

This has really saddened me because so many people who trusted their sponsors and believed in the company and the people who were making huge incomes like 5-6 figures a month have just had the rug pulled out from under them.  Can you imagine, one day you have money coming in that you thought would keep coming and then next day it is all gone just like that?

I do not know about you but I would be devastated as I am sure a lot of the reps in ILearning Global are today. Hopefully after the initial shock has worn off they can sit down and assess where they are and what they need to do. I hope that it does not put a bad taste in their mouth about the industry, because this truly is a great industry as a whole.

What I would like to encourage the reps is to now, go out and do your due diligence, go research, talk to some top earners in other companies and find out what they recommend that you do. Look at other products and services that are proven in the industry, but do not rush into anything.

See the problem is that a lot of people join companies that have just launched or that has only been around for no more than 18 months they do not look to see if the company has a strong foundation to survive and the hype that is surrounded by the momentum is what gets them involved.  What happens is that the company shuts down because it can no longer pay out the money it promised with no warning and you are basically left out in the cold.  Read the corporate letter that came out on 3/17/10.

I personally got caught up in the hype of another company that I am not going to name but luckily used what GOD gave me and came to my senses before I left my company that  is one of the top companies in the industry. That company again that I will not name will fold very soon and I will be writing about that one as well.

The main thing is that I want to convey is that there are a lot of great companies out there and a lot of not so great companies out there. Take your time , look at the comp plan, the management, the leadership and the niche of the company and ask yourself will this company be around it 2-5 years and possible longer, then decide to join.

Lastly, it really does not matter what company you decide to get with in the end because you still have to recruit and sell the product or service and you need a system to help you get you new downline going if and when you start your new business. You need a system that can help you generate leads, help you learn how to market offline and online, help you leverage your time and to train your new reps the same way so that you all can make money.

So if the rug ever gets pulled out from under you again, you will still be able to find another company and not worry about how you will build it all over again because you could not keep your downline intact.

Stay the leader that your team trusted you in the first place and decided to join you by helping them generate as many leads and turn them into new recruits and customers immediately.

To OUR Massive Success,

Your Friend and Coach

P.S. If you don’t know what to do or where to go and you need help now; learn about a company that has a proven track record for success and longevity and has created numerous 6-7 figure earners visit: The rug was pulled out from under me I NEED HELP NOW!

Or if you have decided on a company and you just need a system in place to help you just go to SHOW ME HOW TO HELP MY DOWNLINE!

Lori you are on point! Do your due LOOK OVER of what you want to get involved in. Sometimes we do get caught up in the hype and all the other things that go on but at the end of the day stay true to who you are and your team will follow you when you have integrity, leadership and the sense to help everyone be successful. Thanks again Lori as always!!

    Hey Lori,

If you follow the ILG trail, you'll find that they have settled “en masse” into another network marketing company. That is a testament to the ILG leadership. Obviously, the leaders' downline trusted them enough to follow them into the new venture.

The new venture has been hyped and hyped and hyped some more since the first of the year. It SOUNDS good. I mean VERY good. I'm sure you know where I'm going with this so I'll just shut up and wish them well.

Before I go, however, as Shawn points out in his blog……be very aware of the risk you're taking when you join a company with a history of less than TWO (2) years. C-ya.

    Lori,

I got caught in the ILG letdown too. This is an extremely well written and very wise article for all network marketers and those evaluating the network marketing industry.

Luckily, I branded myself and not my company.

I am shocked as well. You have written a very nice piece here that is objective and offers some great advice.

Just as Jacqueline said, you need to build You,inc.

That is all you ever truly own. Build traffic and market yourself so that you never have to worry about being derailed. Sure, you may still suffer a setback, but true leaders get right back up on the horse for another ride.

    Thanks Lori!

Thanks Jacqueline, I know you will keep it moving, you will have nothing to worry about, your downline and people will trust you and follow you when you decide on what company to build your future in, that is what banding yourself is all about. Good Luck!

  • lorirobertson7

    Well said Cheryl!

  • lorirobertson7

Leon, yes the leadership in ILG is very strong and they definitely will be okay, they have branded themselves so well that the majority of their downlines will trust and follow them into the new venture as you stated!

    Thanks Lori,
The ilg issue is exactly why we brand ourselves and not our companies. It
was a shock but not really a setback. It just motivated me to move onward
    and upward.

You are doing a great job of branding yourself. Keep it up.

It was shocking news for me too. We have to remember our network marketing company is not ours. Any company can pull the plug at any time. That is why it is so important to market yourself. JacquelineMcGinnis.com

Thanks Lori, it is sad that some companies do this, but that just shows how bad their business model was. I think I've found a good one with them creating their product and being number 1 in all infomercials 16 months in a row with 12 years behind them. 3 years with the direct selling of their product through MLM. But staying sharp and keeping our eye on Him is what will pull us through anything. Thanks

  • lorirobertson7

Bill, he is the only one who can pull us through, thanks so much.

Lori, excellent article and it was stories like this that really opened my eyes to the fact you can't put all your eggs in one basket. To depend on a company, to build your business where you really have no control just didn't make any sense to me. Part of my journey as I'm sure it has been for a lot of people.
    Excellent article. Enjoyed reading it.

Thanks Joyce and unfortunately you are correct alot of people had to go through it. I was saddened by it but I hope they all found another MLM to call home that they could run with and become a success in.

Well written! Unfortunate events for sure, how people react to the rug being gone will show their persistence in achieving the AMERICAN DREAM!!

  • lorirobertson7

Thanks Christel hopefully they have all bounced back and found another MLM home that they can prosper in.

    Lori,

That does explain something that had been bugging me. I had tried to connect with a gentleman back in February who was in ILearning. He never would respond to a number of different attempts to connect. Hope he is doing well!

  • lorirobertson7

Maybe if he is on Facebook you can try to connect with him there or either the group that they had. Good luck!

Very Interesting Post Lori! Didn't know ILearningGlobal shut its doors.

You are so right. One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is join a company too soon. Over 95% of mlms fail within the 1st 2 years. Why risk putting in 1-2 years of work building a team without knowing it is going to make it. Do your due diligence. Check out the financials. Are they debt free? Profitable? What's the attrition rate? Is the company following FTC guidelines?

I coach network marketers in all industries and it pains me to see them working hard for a company and not receiving checks that were due to them. One was an ad company and the other an electric energy company. If someone is new, then I'd recommend a company that is mid to late concentration or early momentum stage over a company in formulation. (See 4 stages of growth from Wave 3 by Richard Poe)

    To Your Genius,
    Eiji

P.S. Weird coincidence, I just recently partnered up with Brian Tracy to bring his video trainings to the LA market. Not sure if these are similar videos to ILG. Brian has an awesome free sales assessment special https://briantracy.infusionsoft.com/go/bgss/spe…

  • lorirobertson7

I know Brian Tracy was apart of ILearning Global at some level but not really sure what he did. He is an awesome trainer and I love his books.
